Igreja Nossa Senhora do Rosario, Ouro Preto, by Georgete Pereira

I arrived in Ouro Preto for my oldest daughter’s wedding last Thursday.  Since then, I’ve been taking pictures of this 18th-century town village deeply and beautifully embedded in the valleys of the mountains of Minas Gerais state, Brazil.

Back in the 1980s, I used to visit Ouro Preto to participate in its traditional winter festival, which still brings together local artists performances, handcrafts exhibitions and special events such as international movie festivals.

Here is a photo of  Nossa Senhora do Rosario church built and frequented by slaves in 1785. Why it is so special to me? That’s where my daughter got married last Saturday.
