Here is one of the photos I took and printed in 2001, while spending winter holidays at my country house, in Patrimonio do Carmo, Brazil. I used to consider it as my sanctuary.

I love capturing genuine expressions like this one.

But don’t feel too sorry for this brokenhearted little girl. She is an adorable drama-queen. She was devastated because of a tiny paper-cut on her finger. Can you believe it? 🙂

Ai Clarita, esta eh pra voce! Beijos.

The question is “do we dream in color or in BW…quite a cute expression with a nice tender render.

Sylvaine,
Good question… Though I remember having vivid, colorful dreams!

Kids live in their bodies so well, one paper cut resonates everywhere in their bodies (& minds) for them…I think when we get older we are taught to isolate parts of our bodies and make the division between mind and body…kids are so beautiful because they don’t sensor their feelings…the girl in your photo looks not only sad but melancholy, it’s a beautiful thing to know she can feel so deeply…do you have any joyous images of her?

Yes! I do have other cheerful pictures of her. As all Latinos, she was born with a genuine ability to express her feelings… When she is happy, oh boy, you can see it on her eyes and be completely contaminated. But you don’t want to be around when she gets mad! That’s the way we (“Brazilians”) are. 🙂
