I’ve been taking pictures of Chicago since I moved to this gorgeous city, last August. Despite of a long winter (believe me, even a Chicagoan would agree with me), I haven’t found myself bored yet. There is so much to do and to discover.

Cultural events and artistic manifestations happen everywhere. Just walking down the charming streets of my neighborhood is a special entertainment by itself. I can’t have enough of Chicago’s architecture, buildings, parks, people, museums, you name it.

Here are my favorite images of Chicago. By the way, I am so ready for summer season! Bet you would too …

Lake Geneva – What a beautiful place! February 11, 2009

Here is a partial view of Lake Geneva, a beautiful city of  Walworth Country, WI, and one of Chicagoans‘ favorite getaways. I took this picture while attending the 14th Annual Winterfest and US National Snow Sculpting Championship last weekend.

Nope, I don’t have any picture of the snow sculptures. Believe it or not, the weather was so great that the majority melted down. I know  it was a little bit frustrating for kids, but there were a lot else to do such as horse-drawn carriage rides and even helicopter rides.

Great people and delightful conversations with local sommeliers, who also offered wine tasting and food samplings.

White Doe, Wisconsin by Georgete

White Doe by Georgete

Recently, I was introduced to one of the facets of Wisconsin’s lifestyle. I stayed in a typical cabin built of rough logs and beautifully decorated with hunting-themed ornaments.

Needless to say how much I enjoyed meeting its people and learning about what they do for fun such as snowmobiling, playing pool, hunting and listening to country music.

I couldn’t stop myself from stepping outside to take pictures of a white deer in the backyard. I believe it was 20 Celsius negative that night.

By the way, I’ve learned that for most deer the male is called a buck and the female is a doe. Also, a real white deer can be distinguished from albino deer by their brown, green or blue eyes, which is the case here.

“Anyways” I really had fun, though I almost got my fingers frozen. Yep, I was wearing gloves.

I admire street performers such as this one I’ve run into as I walk down the streets surround the Apple Market, London. By the way, if you happen to be in London, check out the Apple Market. It is the right place for you to find British hand-made crafts and arts and antiques.

Woman on Windsor's streets by Georgete

Woman on Windsor's streets by Georgete

I have been in Windsor twice. It is a small city with more than 1,000 years of history in South East England. First time, I went there for a two-day-business trip and I promised myself that I would visit it again but with my daughter.

So a couple years later, I went back. Though my daughter was only ten-years old, she still recalls our tour to Windsor, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and one of the official residences of Her Majesty The Queen.

I think what really impressed my daughter was the sinister and magical look of the castle’s galleries and its famous St George’s Chapel. Besides of being a beautiful  building, the chapel is the burial place of at least ten monarchs.

By the way, it was fun to see some ladies dressed like centuries ago walking down the tiny streets of Windsor.
