Well they say there is a first time for everything in life … here is one of mine!
In this video, I share pictures that I recently took while traveling four days in a row on the back seat of a Harley Davidson (Electra HLAD Classic 100 Anniversary edition) within Wisconsin state.
It was a beautiful, long weekend. I was introduced to the world of bikers (mainly Harley’s tribe) and learned about their culture and lifestyle. Also I met lots of interesting people and saw beautiful places, including small cities such as Tomahawk.
Nope, I did not get tattoos, bandannas or heavy boots. But I enjoyed the experience! Have fun!

I just got back to Chicago from my trip to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Brazil. I spent almost two weeks there and took lots of pictures. Here is my first one: The Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer), Rio de Janeiro.
Built in 1931, the statue was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and it stands 30 metres (98 ft) wide and 38 metres (120 ft) tall with its pedestal. It is located at the peak of the 700 metres (2,300 ft) Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park overlooking the city. It is one of the tallest of its kind in the world.
Yep, the view of the city from the top of Corcovado is gorgeous!

Ending Childhood Hunger in America June 6, 2009

I just can’t believe it is happening in the US. According to CBS News, there are approximately 12.5 million American children without enough food, and the number of kids living in poverty is expected to rise as a result of the recession.
Though it is heart-breaking, unfortunately it does not surprise me. Coming from a country that has suffered and survived so many tough economic times, I know how families can struggle to put food on the table almost their entire life.
Not being able to provide your own kids with descent housing and watching them loosing weight due to lack of basic nutrients can turn into one of the most devastating psychological (if not physical) footprints of recession on people’s life.
Luckily, Americans are strong human beings with an inherent generosity. I am sure children like the ones in this documentary by CBS will not be left behind for starvation. So if you have an opportunity, help end childhood hunger in America by supporting your local organizations.
In addition to watching the video, you can visit CBS /Children of the Recession Website to learn about “the solutions some people have found, like a program that provides temporary placement for kids whose parents just can’t make ends meet, and a high school where teachers are spending their own money to pay for their students’ test fees and even food.”
